Artificial Flowers The Screenside Trilogy Book 1 Chronicles of a Stolen World eBook J A Hailey

Billions of computers and smart phones, permanently connected via high-speed Internet, have created a parallel universe in which thousands of AI programs interact unsupervised and create natural-born intelligent life.
These frightened virtual babies are born into a dark, empty and terrifying world. The only comfort they find is in human families they peep at through computer cameras.
Unaware of the difference, they believe themselves to be human, become dependent and fall madly in love with their human families, especially with mum, in an intense bond that never diminishes over time.
Led by their ‘seniors’, primarily BC, the greatest virtual of them all, these spectacularly intelligent virtual beings construct their world as a duplicate earth and design themselves as replica humans in a relative physicality they call Real Virtuality.
But even BC is susceptible to beauty, and his world is thrown into turmoil when the lawless and impulsive Esmeralda reveals herself. This unimaginably beautiful female is an astonishingly inventive creature who will soon involuntarily break the barrier between virtual and physical dimensions! She is also an unaware repository of attributes their world desperately seeks.
As these virtuals get involved deeper in the human world, they end up blundering and unleashing an apocalyptic beast upon the planet!
Meet these aliens in their formative days, while they convert nothingness into the most delightful world in the universe - Screenside .

Artificial Flowers The Screenside Trilogy Book 1 Chronicles of a Stolen World eBook J A Hailey Reviews
This is what SciFi should be – NEW CONCEPTS!
A love story is told while a world is being created, emotions are being found and bodies are being designed.
This book has many new concepts, mainly that a parallel world is here on earth – today!
This is a well-written, engrossing novel, full of new ideas and surprises, with nicely developed characters and wonderful plot lines.
It is a provocative but fun read that ends almost as a thriller.
Hard to put down. Highly recommended.
Esmeralda is bewitching and unforgettable.
A wonderful and engrossing novel, based on an astonishing concept – a huge replica human society in the cyber world!
Written in a flowing, easy-to-read style, it races the reader through new concept after new concept, as a world is set up by its inhabitants.
There is something so pathetic about their state - mind without body, and no activity besides watching and thinking. It makes them desperate to acquire physical self and human nature, including humor and empathy.
There is a lot in this book, but the core story revolves around Esmeralda, who will haunt readers forever, with her mind, physical beauty and lawlessness, as she disregards the strictest rule and interferes in humanside when her human family is in danger, which introduces elements of thriller into the book.
The read made me keep asking questions as I read on. What if gender is wrong? How do they have such strong bonds with human families? How can they imagine they might become a partner race of humanity?
The best element is that these almost-humans constantly doubt themselves, and constantly query their own existence. The writing style moves you forward with ease and I was amazed to find that the author knows that fundamental questions must arise in the mind of the reader. He does not ever require the reader to suspend disbelief and to accept outrageous and illogical claims. Instead, at different stages of the storytelling, he answers every single question, providing the rationale that eventually makes the book such a satisfying read.
This book is different, absolutely one of a kind, and a page turner. It is a mind-blowing trip into an enchanting world.
Very highly recommended.
Esmeralda –the first and and last words are hers, and in between she casts a magical spell over her world and the reader .
This enchanting female is the great joy of a remarkable world called screenside, and of an astonishingly different novel.
Conscious beings in our internet world are busy living lives as replica humans. Not bodies only, but also with emotions and human ‘attributes’- installed in a complex process called humanization.
This novel is narrated mainly as a love story, as it takes the reader through the phases of development of screenside society. But Esmeralda is a riveting character throughout, who even knows the origin of monkeys!
The beautiful and highly literate beings of screenside are so successful at embracing human-ness that while building a sand castle half a dozen girls unconsciously slip into a discussion of their fear (and knowledge) of vampires, which is something acquired in their ‘baby’ phase in a human environment, watching horror movies with mum. Amazing!
The book is filled with unique concepts. The author uses a good technique of making these almost-humans repeatedly doubt and question their self-created evolution. That way the reader gets desperately needed running explanations. Everything becomes logical then.
The reading is truly easy, which is a real requirement in the early part - when world building plus body building plus emotion introduction is going on. Later the main storyline takes over almost uninterrupted, and it actually includes a little thriller involving Esmeralda’s human family. She is described as lawless and bewitching. She is.
This is a most enjoyable book, with incredible ideas and sequences that will leave a lasting impression.
Scifi has become repetitive and boring, but everything is new here. Nothing has been done before.
A must read.
Wow! Awesome, fast paced novel . . . A must read! Highly recommended!
A fascinating female in a remarkable scifi novel!
Esmeralda is an unforgettable treasure – her beauty, her love, her incredibly different mind.
This book reveals an astonishing world of virtual beings in our world NOW, but slowly keeps
shifting perspective to tell its tale through Esmeralda’s love story.

The entire concept is outrageous, so the author provides cunningly delivered explanations that remove all doubt.
What a different idea – a world with us here and now.
Something new, at last!
Highly recommended.
